Packing and Storage Tips

Tip #1-Preparing Items for Storage 

Place all smaller items in uniformly sized boxes.  Completely fill each box with heavier items on the bottom and lighter items on the top.  Uniformly sized boxes stack easier and conserve storage space.

• Appliances – Clean and dry appliances prior to storage.  Do not leave anything inside of appliances to be stored.  Store all appliances upright with doors ajar to allow ventilation.
• Blankets, Draperies and Clothing – Have blankets, draperies and clothing cleaned, and then pack them on hangers in wardrobe boxes.
• Books – Books are very heavy.  So, pack them in small boxes, and don’t put them in boxes with other, more fragile, items.
• Breakable items – Wrap breakable items inside bubble wrap, and store with linens.

Tip #2-Pack Smart for more Space

• Use specialty storage boxes and moving supplies to gain more storage in the same space!
• All packing and moving supplies are available at all locations: Boxes of all sizes, many versatile packing materials, furniture and mattress covers, and heavy duty locks.
• Dishes and Glassware – Store these items in specially made boxes called dish packs.
• Furniture, Tables, and Mattresses – Cover with blanket for specialty slip-on covers to protect from scratches, dust, and moisture. Specialty covers available at all locations.
• Label boxed items – You’ll know what is in each box without opening it.

Tip #3-Please do not store these items:

          Any living thing, used tires, firearms or explosives, flammables of any kind (gasoline, diesel, oil, paint, etc.), any hazardous items or waste material, and perishable or food items of any kind whatsoever.
